Meet Dr. Pilcher
A Letter from Dr Pilcher:
"Treat every patient like they are a member of our family." This is the advice that my father, a physician, gave me the day I graduated from dental school. It is advice I remember each and every day. Whether it is by allowing parents to hold their child’s hand through a procedure, or suggesting that patients bring in their own tooth paste to an appointment, my first priority is your child’s comfort and well-being.
It is also important to me that parents and children understand every procedure performed. I will explain each step of the procedure to your child in non-threatening, child friendly terms. Parents are also active participants in my treatment planning, and I will take the time to ensure that you understand all aspects of your child’s treatment.
I am committed to providing the most up to date techniques and advanced technology for my patients. I annually attend continuing education courses, allowing me to stay at the forefront of my specialty. I also offer digital radiography, which reduces your child’s x-ray exposure by 80% when compared to conventional x-rays. We will be able to immediately view the x-rays together on a computer screen.
In addition to helping the families in my own practice, I believe that it is important to give back to our community in DC. To that end, I have donated my time and skills to many area charities, as well as established a foundation with my husband that focuses on the needs of premature infants and their caregivers. I am also president of the Medstar Georgetown University Hospital NICU Parent Advisory Council and dedicate several hours each week to helping families navigate their NICU stay.
My practice is also environmentally conscious and we make every effort to keep our waste to a minimum, to recycle as much as possible and to purchase products from as many environmentally conscious sources as possible. We are always looking for new ways to reduce our carbon footprint and always welcome suggestions from our patients.
The most important thing you need to know about me is my overall philosophy. I believe each child has different needs, and I take this into account when approaching them. My ultimate goal is to teach your children to become lifelong dentally aware patients. The road to that achievement will be different with every child.
